A Private Blog Network (PBN) can be a site or a group of sites (domains) used to rank your site higher in search engines.
The domains used for this are sites that used to be real sites before but were either sold or left to expire. For example, a company such as Blockbuster Video goes out of business, and it’s domain blockbustervideo.com either gets sold or goes up for auction.
A domain like this can be purchased by you and then you can use it to link out to your website.
You do this because the previous site has authority and trust built up from links pointing to it. The site can then be repurposed so that it passes on the authority (aka link juice) to whatever site you wish to link to.
How Do You Create PBN Backlinks?
Creating PBN’s and using them effectively is a little more complicated than simply buying a domain and then creating a little website that links to your site.
Since Google doesn’t want website owners to link to their domains, they have filters in place to prevent PBN’s from working effectively.
Not only that but if Google discovers you are using a Private Blog Network they can give your website a penalty.
